Winter Quarter Advising Checklist

Review essential academic management tools found in your student portal:

  • Academic Advisement Report on the Student Center page (click here for a pdf on how to read your AAR)
  • Student Advising Summary on the Student Center page

Review essential academic publications & websites:

 Review academic integrity policies and information to make sure you are not unwittingly commiting plagiarism or cheating.

Continue to research majors using The General Catalog, Major Advising Summaries or department websites. For all majors in which you are interested, make sure you can answer these questions:

  • Are there required courses which must be completed before you can declare?
  • Is there an admissions policy?
  • Is there a required declaration workshop?
  • Is there a disqualification policy?

Review First Year Advising pages of the Stevenson website

Research out-of-classroom educational opportunities such as EAP , UCDC, UC Center Sacramento, Intercampus Visitor Program, etc.

Understand Academic Progress and Academic Standing. (Be sure to review ALL the Academic Standing links on the left.)

Understand the grading process (GPA, P/NP options and percentage allowed) by reviewing the links under the Evaluating Academic Performance section of the Navigator

Visit faculty during office hours to discuss course material, interest in major, academic goals, etc. and to become comfortable with making faculty contact.

Review need for placement exams by learning major requirements.

Explore undergraduate research opportunities

Enroll for spring quarter during priority enrollment
