    Sarah Woodside Bury

    Senior Director, College Student Life

    (831) 459-3642, sarahcw@ucsc.edu

    Appointments: (831) 459-2660

Office: Cowell Administrative Building, Office #114

My focus is to work closely with faculty, staff, and students to create the best possible living and learning community at Stevenson College.  My main areas of responsibility are college programs, residential life and housing, facilities and fiscal management.  If you have any questions or concerns, please stop by, call or email.  I look forward to hearing your thoughts about life at Stevenson College.

Sarah Christine Woodside Bury (she/her/hers) is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego with a degree in Sociology and Spanish and completed her Masters degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education at Colorado State University.  She came to UC Santa Cruz in 2001 to help start UCSC's two newest Colleges, College Nine and College Ten, due to their compelling and imperative themes.  While at UCSC, Sarah has served as a CRE, CPC, and AD both at Colleges Nine and Ten and Crown College.  Now, she has the honor to support and co-lead (along with the Provosts) College Nine, College Ten, Stevenson College and Cowell College.  One of Sarah's most memorable professional experiences outside of UCSC was when she helped to start the international floating university, aptly named The Scholar Ship, which sailed with 250 students, representing 45 different nations, visiting 16 different countries around the globe.  Sarah has a deep commitment to doing her part to make the world a more peaceful, sustainable, socially just and equitable place.  More personally, she is the proud Mama of Alexander (her 5 year old son) and Nima (her 5 year old dog), both of whom you may see around campus.

    Lenora Willis

    Associate Director, College Student Life

    (831) 459-3834, lmwillis@ucsc.edu

Office: Cowell & Stevenson Residential Life and Housing Office #15

The responsibilities of the Associate Director, College Student Life include the supervision of the Residential Life, Housing, college programs, and non-academic Judicial Affairs. The Associate Director, College Student Life works in collaboration with college staff, the Provost, and students, forming a team that provides you with a dynamic living environment at Stevenson College and UCSC.

I hail from the Mount Airy/ Chestnut Hill area in Philadelphia, PA. Or “in northWEST Philadelphia, born and raised” for my fresh prince fans out there. I then relocated to NJ where I later attended college at Drew University in Madison, NJ. I graduated with my BA in mathematics and a minor in French, with the aspirations of becoming a mechanical engineer at Disney. For a short while after undergrad, I ended up teaching mathematics but my enjoyment of the college environment directed me towards higher education, where I would later go on to become a hall director at a small private school in North Jersey. Since then, I have bounced around the country. From NJ to Salem, MA (where I obtained my M.Ed.) to Eugene, OR, Valdosta, GA, and finally Santa Cruz, CA. In my role there, I had the pleasure of creating/changing positions and initiatives to streamline processes and procedures that benefitted the department as well as cultivate my supervision skills on developing future student. In my spare time, I co-created and chaired VSU’s Bias Evaluation Response Team, co-implemented a Residential Curriculum, as well as created professional development opportunities for student staff and graduate staff so that they can advance in the field of student affairs and become the best professionals possible beyond the walls of a regional state university. When I am not in the office I am usually home with my 5 year old puppy, Benedict, and trying to find the next best place to eat. So all recommendations are welcome. I love Student Affairs and I am looking forward to continuing this journey at UCSC and hopefully able to inspire the same energy around change and growth for our campus population here.
