How do I know when my package has arrived?

You will receive an e-mail notification from the mailroom letting you know that  your package is ready for pick-up

If you receive a notification from your postal carrier prior to receiving our e-mail, please be patient. You will be contacted by the mailroom shortly. There are several reasons why there may be a lag between these two notifications

    • Many students are ordering packages at the same time
    • The package was incorrectly addressed
    • The email that some carriers send out to notify you that your package has been delivered only indicates a package has arrived in the city Santa Cruz. It may take another 1- 2 days to be delivered to the mailroom.

What do I need to bring when picking up a package?

Please bring your student ID card to claim a package from the mailroom

During holidays, when will I get my mail and packages?

  • Any packages delivered during campus closures will be processed and remain in the mailroom unitl students return and are able to pick them up.

If I think my package is missing, then what should I do?

  • Come to the mailroom during our open window hours with your student ID card and a tracking number from your postal carrier and we'll try to figure out what went wrong
  • Please contact Mail Services Supervisor at stcolleg@ucsc.edu
  • There may be an issue with the address. It may have arrived at another college, the package may not have your full name, or our mail clerks may have erroneously logged it in under another student's name that is similar to yours. We will do our best to resolve the issue

What if I go by a name other than my legal name?

  • If you have specified a lived or preferred name in MyUCSC, you can receive mail under either your preferred, lived name or legal name
  • For all other students, please use your full legal name for all packages and letter mail

  • If the key has been lost, report it to the mailroom stevmr@ucsc.edu
  • A $15 lost-key fee will be charged and a new key will be issued

  • USPS No Longer Forwards mail or student packages after you leave!
  • You need to update your contacts with your new street address once you move away from campus
  • Sign up for Informed Delivery with USPS, so you can get an email of letters that will arrive soon and who to notify when you move
