Information For Guests

  • The Stevenson College Commencement Ceremony

Ssaturday, June 15 at 12:30PM on the UCSC East Field

Keynote Address: Tyler Stoval, Dean of Humanities

Please do not arrive at the East Field before 12:30PM as there is a ceremony prior to ours. You will not be allowed onto the field if you arrive before 12:30PM.

If you have more questions, please see the transport and parking info page.

The ceremony will be livestreamed and can be viewed during and after the event.

  • Directions

  • At the UCSC entrance, follow the signs EAST to STEVENSON. Parking attendants will direct you to the correct lot based on the parking pass displayed on your dashboard (there are multiple ceremonies on campus on Sunday). Shuttles will take you to and from the Stevenson ceremony and reception, or you may choose to walk.

  • Tickets and Parking

  • Tickets are not issued to attend the commencement ceremony and there is no limit to the number of guests you may have. However, each student participant will only be issued two commencement parking passes for the day. With multiple ceremonies on Sunday, parking on campus is very limited and we cannot issue more than two passes per student. Cars displaying a Stevenson Commencement parking pass will be directed to the appropriate parking lot. Guests may shuttle (or walk) to the ceremony site. Students may pick up passes from the Stevenson College Office, during the designated pick up times (see Step 8 in Commencement Guide).

  • Shaded Seating

  • Starting this year, all seating for guests will be shaded this year.

  • Resources and Amenities

  • Located to the side of the audience will be a Programs & Information tent, a Disability Support tent, and a First Aid tent. All campus shuttles and vans drop passengers off at the edge of the grass field (no private cars are allowed access to this area). A drinking water station is also provided free of charge, however, you may want to bring the following items:

    • Reusable water bottle/cup
    • Light colored clothing, but layers may be needed
    • Comfortable, flat shoes
    • A hat with a brim that will provide shade
    • Sunscreen
    • And just in case...bring an umbrella! The ceremony will happen rain or shine. However, because of visibility issues, umbrellas may not be used for shade during the ceremony unless you stand behind the audience.

  • Programs

  • To reduce waste, one program will be issued to each party. Each graduate receives a commemorative program, but many programs are left at the ceremony site following the event. Extra programs will be available on the field until supplies are expended.

  • Pets

  • Please note that UCSC has a “no pet” policy that is strictly enforced. Only animals utilized for disability accommodation as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act are allowed. If you enter campus with a pet, you will be asked to leave. There are several pet hotels in Santa Cruz County equipped to board your pets; please check local listings. Thank you!

  • Drones

  • We recognize that you may want to capture aerial footage of the event, but we ask that you do not bring drones to campus on the day of commencement.

  • Inviting international guests

  • For information about inviting guests from other countries, please refer to the International Student and Scholar Services page.
