Stevenson Student Council

December 12, 2011

The Student Council is the governing body for Stevenson students. The primary responsibilities of the council include the allocation of the College Membership fund, making recommendations on policies and positions that affect students, staffing and publicizing student elections, informing Stevenson students about issues and events occurring both at UCSC and across the University of California, and the appointment of students to university committees, including the Academic Senate, the Student Union Assembly, and the Student Fee Advisory Committee. Stevenson Student Council also has several subcommittees that are in charge of outreach, small and large scale programs, and renovations within Stevenson College.

The Council primarily consists of a representative from each of the eight residential houses, and representatives from the apartments and off-campus students. Although the College Programs Coordinator participates in Student Council as adviser, only Stevenson students can be voting members of the Council and participate in the decision-making process.

Meetings are held every Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. in the Stevenson Silverman Lounge. The one to two-hour meetings generally consist of funding requests, updates on projects, and reports from committee representatives and Stevenson staff. All Stevenson students are welcome to join and engage in discussion and decision-making.
