Why Visit an Adviser?

The Academic Advising staff is here to assist you in reaching your academic goals. The Academic Preceptor/Advisers are available during daily drop-in advising or on an appointment basis throughout the quarter.

. The Advising and Records Coordinator is available on a drop-in basis. See the Academic Advising staff to:

  • Obtain assistance with your course selection
  • Monitor progress toward completion of your degree
  • Develop suitable educational plans
  • Obtain assistance deciding on a major and begin the process of declaring your major
  • Clarify general education and graduation requirements
  • Get advice if you are experiencing academic difficulty
  • Get help planning for the Education Abroad Program
  • Obtain approval or support for campus and college petitions

At the beginning of every quarter, you should come into the Stevenson College Office to get your validation sticker for the current quarter.

If you are planning on taking a course-load of less than 15 or more than 19 credits, contact an academic adviser. Students with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better, are permitted to enroll in up to 22 credits. However, you cannot enroll in more than 19 credits until the first day of instruction.

You can also visit the advising staff to check on remaining GE requirements, the status of pending changes to your academic record (transfer credit, removal of incompletes, instructor-initiated grade changes, petitions to substitute general education requirements, etc. ) and read the many notices posted about academic events, new courses, and workshops from various departments and campus units.
