Residence Halls

Residents of House 2 participate in a get-to-know you activity.

There are eight separate residence halls (aka "houses") built on two locations at Stevenson College. At each site, four houses face each other across a large central plaza, they are known as "upper quad" and "lower quad." Though there is no general advantage in living in one quad over the other, the quads maintain a friendly rivalry through several events over the course of the year.

Residents live in single, double, or triple rooms. Singles are generally assigned to continuing students. Most freshmen live in traditional doubles. Some of our lounges have been converted into triples where three students live in a relatively large space. As a new student, plan on living with a roommate. We will do our best to match you up with a compatible student.

The floorplans of Stevenson residences are virtually identical in all houses. Wheelchair accessible student rooms and bathrooms are located in the upper quad. All floors have smoke detectors and sprinklers. Coin operated washers and dryers, water fountains, and pay phones are in all houses.

Individual rooms are furnished with beds, extra long mattresses, mattress pads, desks, chairs, mounted bookshelfs, large wardrobes, trash can, drapes and carpeting. Beds are of oak construction and can be bunked together for additional floor space. Bunk bed ladders are available upon request. You will need to supply your own blankets, sheets and a pillow. A study lamp, hangers, and an alarm clock are also suggested among other necessities.

A new resident of the Multicultural and Diversity-themed House meets her Resident Assistants.

A SPACE TO SHARE…

While your room is your own (and your roommate’s), there are a number of common areas that you will share. Each house has a lounge, which is a great informal setting for Residential Life events, card games, study breaks, movie nights, house meetings, and discussion groups.

Each floor also has a large central bathroom facility, with private bathroom stalls, sinks, showers, washer and dryer. Most bathrooms are designated "co-ed" but are modified for individual privacy.

Stevenson’s Upper Quad includes Houses 1, 2, 3 and 4.
