After announcing their intention to graduate, all students are reviewed for College Honors. The minimum necessary requirements for honors are a GPA of 3.65 and, for students with a single major and no minor, 2 courses beyond the minimum number of courses necessary to meet general education breadth requirements. These 2 courses must be taken in 2 different divisional areas outside the student’s home division (Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, PBS or SOE).

 

After meeting the initial criteria, a faculty committee reviews students’ records relative to others in their graduating class and awards honors based on a preponderance of excellence across the student’s full academic record. The committee considers multiple factors (double majors, minors, number of courses taken pass/no pass, transfer credit, etc.) when making their determinations. College Honors is noted on a student’s transcript and diploma.
